Overland Park (Kan.) Northwest tight end Jackson Heath made a west coast swing that included an Opening regional camp and visits to Cal and Oregon State.

"They were very different locations," Heath said. "Cal Berkeley is right in the middle of a massive city, and Corvallis is out by itself - it's a college town. It was a completely different feel. Both programs are on the rise."

Heath does not have an offer from Cal, and with them already having a tight end commitment, he might not receive an offer from the Bears. With Oregon State, the Beavers offered Heath earlier in May.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder greatly enjoyed his time in Corvallis.

*5 Reasons Why Oregon State Will Make the CWS

"I got to meet with [most] of the coaches - coach Baldwin, coach Wozniak, and I also got to meet coach Andersen for a bit," Heath said. "They all had the same message that they want me more as a possession tight end rather than a blocking tight end.

"Obviously, as a tight end, you're going to have to block, but they picture me more as a playmaker. They want me to create mismatches; I'd be too fast for a linebacker and too oversized for a cornerback or safety.

"You want to hear from every coach that they plan to utilize you. They have a vacancy at tight end and it's definitely promising to hear from a school that they want and need you to play."

Heath is considering making a college commitment this summer.

"My parents and I have talked about it," said Heath. "If it was going to come early, I'd say the end of summer or beginning of the football season. If I'm not comfortable then, hopefully the coaches will wait on me so I can make the correct decision for my future."

Oregon State is Heath's lone Power Five conference offer, making them an obvious top contender to land a commitment from Heath.

"I'd definitely put them up there with my top few," he said. "I don't have it all ordered because I haven't visited a bunch of the places that have offered me, but having the visit and being around the [Oregon State] coaches, it left a good message in my mind."
