Gray is ready to do 'big things' in Corvallis

The Beavers added a much needed offensive lineman commit to their 2018 recruiting class in Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) three-star recruit Joshua Gray.

Arizona, Arizona State, Hawaii, and San Diego State also coveted Gray as they hosted him for official visits in the recruiting process. It came down to Oregon State and Arizona State, and even though the Sun Devils got the final visit, the Beavers won out for Gray.

"I really like the coaching staff at Oregon State. I think they have a good thing going on there and I’m glad I get to be a part of it," Gray said.

"I gave coach [Jonathan] Smith a call [Friday] night, and he was almost as excited as me. I also spent time talking to Michalczak and he was equally ecstatic. I also, of course, gave the ASU coaches a call to let them know and love they showed me assured me that either way I would’ve been making the right decision.

"I’m excited and extremely blessed to be able to play at such a high level of college football. I’m ready to get out there and compete against some of the top players in the nation."

Oregon State's new coaching staff was pivotal in earning Gray's commitment.

"The coaches were everything," said Gray. "Like I said, there wasn’t a wrong option here, but I think it was ultimately the long time relationships I had with coach Michalczak and some of the other staff members at Oregon State."

Gray wants Oregon State fans to be prepared for the turn around that is to come in Corvallis.

"My message is just to be ready cause we're gonna be doing big things here pretty soon," Gray stated.
