Giant Killer + Defensive MVP: ASU

The Giant Killer Award continues to change hands weekly. Several players are always in the hunt, but this week it was linebacker Michael Doctor who earned the honor. His five tackles including one for loss and two pass break-ups were enough to push him over the edge.
Fellow linebackers Feti Taumoepeau and D.J. Alexander added four tackles each as the Beavers were forced to adjust their game plan after the first quarter. This was the fifth game in a row where Doctor earned linebacker MVP honors.

Earning his sixth MVP honor of the year, defensive end Scott Crichton was only a point away from Doctor in the statistics calculations. While Crichton had a big game, the rest of the defensive front also contributed heavily.
Coach Joe Seumalo continued to utilize a high rotation rate, which meant seven linemen had at least one tackle. They were able to keep containment for the most time on ASU's very mobile quarterback and truly dominated the second half.
Five of the top seven point earners came from the Beavers secondary with Rashaad Reynolds topping the list. This was Reynolds' seventh MVP honor of the year as he continues to prove that he is one of the top defenders in the conference.
Right behind him this week were Ryan Murphy, Anthony Watkins, Sean Martin, and Tyrequek Zimmerman who contributed 29 tackles between the four of them.
