Fan Reaction: Oregon State falls to Boise State

BeaversEdge.com posed the simple question to our subscribers: What is your analysis of the Boise State game? Below are a few of the top insightful answers.

Beavmeister: "Football is all about blocking and tackling. We're very weak at the point of attack and get little to no push up front in the run game. Pass blocking is also poor so it's really impossible to string together a series of successful plays.

"Defensively we don't get off blocks, and again are pushed around at the point of attack. We need bigger, stronger, faster and more physical defenders at almost every position.

"Coaching.....I really don't know what to think at this point. Our coaches certainly have less talent to work with, but they certainly aren't doing MORE with less. Nothing special has been happening. It will be a surprise if we win a single conference game this season.

"Boise State is a nice little team, but certainly not special. There running back was impressive....he ran for over 200 yards.....and everyone else was just solid. As coach Andersen said, they're a team without any obvious weaknesses. But they're not a team with a lot of strengths either, just solid in what they do."

kingg21: "Here's my take, we are certainly less talented/young in some key spots i.e. offensive and defensive lines, which really dictates a team's success.

"Defense has a few players Decoud and Bright who can be difference makers.

"In the past two years there have been very few spirited efforts I have really enjoyed watching. Third quarter yesterday and civil war second half come to mind.

"What bothers me the most is our offensive play calling. It is not balanced well we get into ruts. Lots of runs or lots of stupid passes.

"To move forward I think Nall, Pierce, Bolden, and Collins need to get the ball a lot. Villamin seems to disappear because of our lack of vertical passing.

"I'm sad because the Beavers have fallen a long ways from the Rodgers' brothers years and the solid 2012 campaign."

SoCalBeaver: "I keep going back to that 4th and 1 to Nall that was stopped in the 3rd quarter. It stopped the momentum we had generated after halftime, and it was essentially a back and forth defensive struggle for the remainder of the game.

"I do like Nall's game, but I wonder if we get a look at Pierce in critical 3rd or 4th and short situations in the future. He seems to run lower and could maybe blast through for that extra 1/2 to one yard that we need."

QBeaver: "I was impressed with the play of the two freshman athletes in the second half Pierce and Blount. It was a bonus to play Blount yesterday, especially since he looked pretty good. It will spread out the quarterbacks in different classes next year. Garretson sr., McMaryion jr., Blount so., Moran fr., Willard fr., if they all come back."
