Defensive Points + Giant Killer Award: Cal

Yet another shake-up with the Giant Killer Award this week as senior cornerback Jordan Poyer earned his second honor of the season. This week the entire defense saw action as 33 defenders registered stats (typically only 17 players register stats).
The secondary had a solid day as junior cornerback Rashaad Reynolds tallied the second highest point total on the team, while Ryan Murphy, Steven Christian and Anthony Watkins added turnovers and tackles as well.

Linebacker Michael Doctor added five tackles including one and a half for loss, enough to earn him MVP honors. D.J. Alexander, Feti Taumoepeau, and Rueben Robinson added 11 tackles against the Golden Bears.
Perhaps most impressive was the performance on the defensive front as Coach Joe cleared the bench and allowed redshirt freshmen into the rotation. Sophomore defensive end Dylan Wynn was the leading tackler on the team and earned defensive line MVP honors for the second time this year.
Making the most of his playing time, redshirt freshman Akeem Gonzales added four tackles, including one sack. Lavonte Barnett also added a fumble recovery which was significant.
In all thirteen defensive linemen recorded stats in the victory over Cal.
