In a BeaverBlitz.com first, 27 defensive players registered stats against Nicholls State on Saturday. While the Giant Killer is a very familiar name, the rest of the MVP's are new to this year's list.
Senior cornerback Jordan Poyer earned his third Giant Killer Stone Award of the season tallying 8.25 points. It was a big day for the secondary however as nine players contributed to the effort. Redshirt freshman safety (and walk-on) Micah Audiss from Roseburg was second in points after his interception late in the fourth quarter.
Linebackers were all over the field with a three-way tie for MVP honors. Feti Taumoepeau is a regular to the list, but Beaver fans should be excited by the appearance of Dyllon Mafi and Joel Skotte on this week's MVP honors list. Redshirt freshman [db]Jaswha James[/db] narrowly missed out as the reserves saw a lot of action in the Beavers blow-out victory.
Like the linebackers, defensive line saw two new names earn MVP awards as juniors Blake Harrah and Mana Rosa tied. Eigth defensive linemen registered stats in the Beaver win including several reserves.
