The Oregon State football team has had a busy week on the recruiting trail, landing commitments from five players in a 24 hour period. One player that committed is Kaleb Hayes. A two-star ATH from San Bernardino (Calif.) San Gorgonio who plays quarterback in high school, but will be a cornerback for the Beavers.

Watching his highlights at quarterback, Hayes' athleticism jumps off of the screen, but footage of him playing corner is not available. The Oregon State coaches were able to watch him live at their satellite camp in Rancho Cucamonga earlier in the month and offered him on the spot.

BeaverBlitz caught up with San Gorgonio head coach Ron Gueringer to get the low down on the Beavers newest cornerback commit.

"Kaleb is an outstanding athlete and was the offensive MVP of the San Andreas League last year," Coach Gueringer told BeaverBlitz. "He's fast too, this past spring on the track he clocked a 10.5 in the 1oo, 21.5 in the 200, and a 48 flat in the 400. He's 6-1 and has long arms and legs and great speed, which is his main asset."

"Last season he rushed for around 1,200 yards and 19 touchdowns and passed for 1,600 yards and 15 touchdowns," Coach Gueringer continued. "He's also just a tremendous kid. He has a 3.4 GPA and is just easy going and unassuming."

Coach Gueringer said that several schools had offered including Washington State, BYU, Fresno State, Utah State, Nevada and UNLV and he as picking up interest from several others.
