Los Angeles, California is a hotbed area for recruiting, and Gary Andersen's Oregon State Beavers have been targeting prospects in the area pretty hard.

They landed multiple high school recruits from southern California last year, and the Beavers now have a big tight end from LA in the 2018 class.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey tight end Isaiah Smalls announced his commitment to Oregon State on Wednesday over other offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Oregon, Purdue, and others.

What put Oregon State over the top for Smalls were relationships.

Smalls is familiar with a pair from true freshman from Los Angeles at OSU in Jeffrey Manning and Arex "Champ" Flemings. Beaver commit Isaac Hodgins has also been recruiting Smalls to come to Corvallis with him.

"I definitely feel like I'm a priority in their class," Dorsey previously told BeaversEdge.com. "They need a tight end right now. I'm their priority."

Smalls has already set up an official visit to Corvallis for the Washington game on September 30. That will be a big official visit weekend for the Beavers, and it seems like Smalls will be the type of commitment who will be vocal for OSU in recruiting other prospects.
