Two days, two new commitments for Jonathan Smith and Oregon State.
On Thursday, IMG Academy offensive lineman Dylan Lopez announced his commitment to the Beavers. Oregon State beat out many other schools for his commitment such as Cal, Arizona State, Michigan State, and USC, who he was formerly committed to.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound center is fresh off of official visits to both Oregon State and Cal, where he and his family got to learn a lot about his options and concluded that Corvallis was home.
"The biggest thing that me and my entire family noticed was that off the bat the entire staff from top to bottom is like a family," said Lopez. "They treated us the same way all weekend and everyone on my side loved it."
It was a team effort from Oregon State throughout his recruitment, with multiple coaches developing a tight bond with the future Beav.
"My relationship with relationship with Coach Smith, Coach M, and D Yray as well, those are all my guys," Lopez said. "They have all shown me how bad they want me and how well I will fit into the offense. They exceeded my expectations for sure."
What is Oregon State getting in Lopez?
"I think a big reason why Coach M specifically likes me is because I am an athletic lineman," said Lopez. "I am going to move quick and get to where I need to be and get to all three levels of the defense if I need to."
Lopez is the fifth commitment in the class, joining linebacker Melvin Jordan, running back Damien Martinez, wide receiver Cole Prusia, and quarterback Travis Throckmorton.
