Snoqualmie (Wash.) Mount Si wide receiver Jesiah Irish has announced his commitment to Oregon State University. He announced the news the day after he took his official visit to OSU.

“What really stood out to me the most is how all the coaches are and how much they care about the program starting with coach Smith,” Irish said about his time in Corvallis. “He’s lived it and done it and they all are coaches I highly trust. Another thing that stood out to me is everyone on staff is low ego, high output and that was really cool to see

Irish was offered by the Beavers a week ago when offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren and head coach Jonathan Smith stopped by his high school.

The 6-foot, 175-pound speedy wide receiver set up his official visit a few days before that visit from Smith and Lindgren as he was in touch with special teams coach Jake Cookus.

Irish knew coming into the official visit that if things went well, he'd go ahead and commit to the Beavers, and that's exactly what happened. Irish will sign with Oregon State on the new December 20 signing day.

Irish is excited about the Beavers' offense under the leadership of Lindgren and Smith.

"I loved coach Lindgren and what he's about," Irish said. "We talked and both of those coaches have a history of coming from something that wasn't great and turning it into a winner. That appealed to me.

"With coach Smith, I've known him for about a year and a half. We had a good relationship when he was at Washington. I've seen him at camps and games at U-Dub. To be a part of that first recruiting class he has [is] pretty cool."
