Beavs land NW OG and has confirmed that 6-foot-3, 265 pound offensive guard Josh Mitchell from Snoqualmie (Wash.) Mount Si has committed to play for Coach Riley and the Oregon State Beavers.
Mitchell is currently in Corvallis on an unofficial visit and made his pledge to Coach Riley after the Beavers morning practice.
"I've visited all of these schools and Corvallis just feels like home," Mitchell said. "Coach Riley is just a straight up guy and he cares so much for his players."
Taking in an early morning practice this morning just cemented the feelings that he had prior to the trip.
"Coach Cav is another straight up guy and he isn't afraid to yell, but it is just to make you a better player," he said. "If you aren't giving your best effort he'll make sure you hear about it, but it just makes you better for the games."
With offers on the table from Washington State, Wyoming and Montana and interest picking up from other PAC 12 programs including Cal and Utah, Mitchell confirmed that he is 100% committed to the Beavers and will only be making one official visit to Corvallis this year.
Coach Riley heard the good news first.
"I told Coach Riley and word spread through the office," he said. "I told them that I wanted to be a Beaver. He was excited and happy for the Beavers and he told me that 'the Beavers just got better today, you're a great addition to this recruiting class.'"
He is now excited to help build his recruiting class that is already off to a strong start.
"I've already started talking to a few athletes here in Washington," he added. "I want to help make this the best class in Beaver history."
BeaverBlitz will continue to follow Mitchell throughout his senior year. He is the eighth member of the 2012 class.
