Beavs land 15 quarterback

Coach Gary Andersen has his full staff in place and they are wasting little time in working to assemble a recruiting class. They got big news on Monday night as quarterback Seth Collins from El Cajon (Calif.) Granite Hills committed to Oregon State.
The news for the Beavers was even better as Collins is eligible to enroll early and will be arriving in Corvallis on Thursday to begin his Oregon State career.

The 6-foot-4, 170 pound quarterback has been committed San Jose State since mid-June, but a call from new offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin and quarterback coach Kevin McGiven on Sunday had him changing his mind in a hurry.
Id like to announce my commitment to oregon st. In jesus name ill further play this game i love pic.twitter.com/2VtoGPKLAl- Seth Collins (@_SethTheGreat) January 6, 2015
"It was really just a chance to play great coaches, I mean Coach McGiven won the Quarterback Coach of the Year this year," Collins said. "Coach McGiven is just a really good coach."
Coach Andersen talked about his philosophy of quarterback play during his introductory press conference, noting that he wants quarterbacks to be a triple threat. Be able to use their legs, arms and mind. Collins fits the bill.
"You ask my dad and he will tell you that I'm a triple threat," Collins laughed.
Collins may have fallen off the recruiting radar after transferring from Helix High to Granite Hills. Due to the transfer, he was forced to sit out his junior year. That hasn't diminished his hunger to succeed at the highest level.
"I'm excited to see what I can bring to the team," he said. "I ready to go in and work hard."
