2020 Recap

The 2020 season was a bit of an up and down effort for Flemings on the field as inconsistent quarterback play, a crowded receiver room, and injuries contributed to a dip in production from a year before.

Back in 2019, Flemings played in all 12 games, making five starts. He caught 32 passes for 457 yards and three touchdowns, while also running the ball three times for 18 yards.

After the 2019 campaign, Flemings was poised to be a guy who was in a position to take another step forward in 2020, but for varying reasons, it didn't come to fruition.

This past season, Flemings only recorded 10 receptions for 107 yards. He did manage to be a consistent staple in the kick return game, returning 19 kicks for 447 yards. For his efforts, Flemings was named 2020 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention selection.

Unfortunately for Flemings, he suffered a shoulder injury against Utah in the fifth game of the season and was lost for the remainder of the season.

A part of the production dip can be attributed to the fact that the Beavers didn't boast a strong passing attack and that he only played in five games, but in either case, it was a step back production-wise and he'll certainly be looking to get back on track this year.

2021 Outlook

Heading into the 2021 campaign, it's going to be very interesting to see where Flemings fits into a crowded wide receiver rotation.

The Beavers have certainly added a lot of reinforcements at the position over the past couple of seasons with incoming recruits and transfer portal guys, but Flemings has shown flashes of being a receiver that the Beavers can utilize in a lot of different ways, and I still don't think we've seen the best he can offer.

He's one of the teams' most experienced guys and I think that's going to go a long way in helping him create an even bigger niche within the offense this year.

He'll have to compete amongst a crowded receiver room that has gotten a lot better from where they were just a season ago, so he'll need to have a really strong camp to remain firmly in the mix.

Last season very well could have been an outlier for Flemings, but now that there's even more competition in the room, he'll have to put in a ton of work to hold pace and be in contention for a starting job.

All in all, Flemings is a guy who the Beavers have a lot of confidence in and someone who has made big plays in the past, and I think that's going to keep him squarely in the rotation this year.

Sure, the Beavers have added some really fine pieces at receiver, but Flemings has carved out a really nice niche and I'd like to see the team utilize his full talents in 2021.
