Beavers land JUCO lineman

As the 2007 letter of intent day draws near, the Beavers are still working hard for a strong finish. The latest commitment is 6-foot-7, 285 pound offensive tackle, Gerald Parker from Compton (Calif.) Compton Community College. Parker made his pledge during his weekend visit and is excited to be a Beaver.
"I'll sign my Letter of Intent on Wednesday to attend Oregon State," said Parker. "The trip was very, very nice, great coaching staff and good hospitality. I committed on my trip."

Originally from New Iberia, Louisiana, Parker moved west and attended Pasadena City College prior to moving across the city to play for Compton last year. New Orleans native, Gerard Lee was Parker's host during his visit, and the two got along well.
The Beavers land a very athletic lineman in Parker, who is currently ranked as the 62nd best junior college prospect on the Rivals Junior College Top 100 list. He was heavily recruited and held offers from Louisville, Nebraska, and Washington State.
Parker originally committed to Louisville in December, but has not remained in contact with their new coaching staff. He was sold on the Beavers by his lead recruiter, Nigel Burton.
He indicated that he had one semester left at Compton, but will be in Corvallis in June ready to compete for coach Mike Cavanaugh as a tackle. He will have three years to play two.
Parker wanted Beaver fans to know, "I'm coming up and will do my part to help the Beavers win a National Championship." Those are words that Beaver Nation can celebrate.
