Asemota breaks down Oregon State commitment

Oregon State landed a new weapon on offense with a commitment from Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame wide receiver Tyler Asemota.

The big 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect chose the Beavers over BYU, Hawaii, Fresno State, and others.

Asemota talked about his decision to commit to Oregon State with BeaversEdge.com.

"Coach Brennan came to my game two weeks ago, and we were talking on the phone before that. They've been recruiting me for a long time, and I feel really comfortable with them," Asemota explained.

"I felt like I was ready [to commit]. I talked to my parents about it, and they agreed that it was best for me to commit there. I plan on visiting soon. I really trust the coaching staff."

Asemota's relationship with wide receivers coach Brent Brennan was a big factor that led him to commit to OSU.

"One thing that I like about him is that we can really relate to each other," said Asemota. "We're so comfortable with each other. We crack jokes every now and then.

"He didn't rush me at all [to commit]. He said whenever I'm ready. He talked to me every week, and I feel really comfortable with him. I really built a great relationship with him; I have a lot of trust in him.

"I know that when he's coaching me, he'll be tough with me, but I still trust him, and I'm glad he'll be able to coach me."

Brennan has big plans for Asemota in the Beavers' offense.

"He told me that he sees a lot of potential that I have with my height and speed," Asemota said. "He believes that he can shape into a really, really big play receiver. He's ready to work with me, and I'm ready too."

Asemota has not been to Oregon State for a visit before, so he's planning on setting up a visit in the near future.

Now that Asemota is committed, he believes that his commitment will be solid with the Beavs.

"I feel extremely confident about it. I can't wait to go visit," he said. "I've already met pretty much the entire coaching staff at one of their satellite camps here back in the summer. I really, really trust these guys. I feel really confident about the situation."
