Defensive Points + MVP's: Colorado

Untitled Document

For the second week in a row, safety Tyrequek Zimmerman led the Beavers in tackles, but after the Colorado win he has earned the BeaverBlitz.com Giant Killer Stone Award. Zimmerman had seven tackles on the day including the Beavers lone sack on Colorado quarterback Connor Wood.

Statistically, it was a big day for the secondary as four of the top six defensive point leaders were defensive backs. Fellow safety Ryan Murphy added four tackles and an interception, while cornerbacks Rashaad Reynolds and Steven Nelson added five tackles, with Reynolds tallying an interception as well.

Jabral Johnson, a high school teammate of Zimmerman's in Oklahoma earned MVP honors for the linebackers. He had six tackles against the Buffaloes. D.J. Alexander added six tackles as well and middle linebacker Rommel Mageo tacked on four assisted tackles in his first start for the Beavers.

Scott Crichton led the defensive line with five tackles, including two for loss. Mana Rosa and Dylan Wynn added eight tackles with Rosa earning extra points for a pass break-up. Several reserves also saw action on the defensive front.
