Casey's Contract Extended Through 2018

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis announced Wednesday that baseball head coach Pat Casey has had his contract extended through the 2018 season.

Casey is the program's all-time winningest coach and takes a 641-380-4 (.627) record with the Beavers into this weekend's series with UCLA. He's a three-time national coach of the year, in 2005, 2006 and 2007 - the latter two after winning back-to-back national championships - and was named the Pacific-10 Conference's Coach of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2011.

"I wanted to extend the contract of Coach Casey in recognition of his loyalty to this University," De Carolis said. "Coach Casey has done an incredible job in keeping Beaver baseball a national contender year-after-year and the way he has gone about doing so serves as a model for other universities. I think I can speak for Beaver Nation in saying that it is a well-deserved extension and I look forward to having Coach Casey in our dugout for the foreseeable future."

"I'm very appreciative of everything Bob De Carolis and Oregon State have done for me," Casey said. "I've been fortunate to be a part of this program for almost 20 years now and we've achieved great things in that time. This program is about the student-athletes and I'm honored to be the head coach at Oregon State."

Casey's clubs have posted 16 winning seasons in his 18 years with the program and he and OSU are poised for another as the Beavers carry a 23-4 record into this weekend. Oregon State is also looking to extend its postseason streak to five seasons in 2013, as the Beavers came into the year with a school-record four straight appearances.

He is 35-14 (.714) all-time in the postseason, which accounts for all but five of Oregon State's NCAA victories.

In almost 19 full seasons with Oregon State, Casey has produced 11 All-Americans and 11 former players have played at the Major League level. At least one player has been selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft every year under Casey, and he and the program set a school record with nine selections in 2006.

He joined the Oregon State program in 1995 after seven seasons at George Fox, where he amassed a 171-113-1 record (.602). In 26 seasons at the collegiate level, Casey is 812-493-5 (.622).
