JP's Weekly Walk-Off: Washington State

The Beavers return to Goss as the hottest team in the nation as evidenced by their nine game winning streak (no offense to Valparaiso who also has a nine game streak, but wins over Cleveland State, Youngstown State, and Wabash don't stack up equally).   This weekend will be a good test of the young Beavers' focus, as WSU is struggling and has under-achieved much of the year, but has more talent than their results indicate and should be a team desperate for wins in order to keep their dim post-season hopes alive.

The Beavers rolled into Sunken Diamond having never swept Stanford, but did just that.

  • Friday:  OSU 1 - Stanford 0:  Michael Miller singled to lead off the game, and after being sacrificed over to second, Kavin Keyes singled up the middle for a 2-out RBI that scored the only run either team would record.  Sam Gaviglio continued his mastery at Sunken Diamond (17 IP, 0 ER) with 8 innings of 4-hit ball, and Tony Bryant struck out the side in the bottom of the 9th to record his 4th save of the season.
