JP's Weekly Walk-Off: In the desert

The rubber meets the road this week as the bulk of the non-conference schedule is in the rear view mirror and Pac-10 play commences for the Beavers.  The Beavs have compiled a very solid 18-6 record that will certainly not hurt their post-season resume, but now they enter the portion of the schedule that will ultimately determine their post-season fortunes.

THE WEEK THAT WAS

OSU was able to get all three games in last weekend despite ominous forecasts and the reality of (at times steady) rain that made conditions less than ideal most of the weekend.  However, as a credit to the upgrades made to Goss in recent years, and the work of Jess Lewis and his crew, the field was playable and good to go as scheduled for game action (aside from a rain delay before the Sunday game).  The UCSB Gauchos proved to be a better opponent than I admit I expected/predicted, and while the Sunday game was a clunker for OSU (UCSB seemed to be far more interested in being there than OSU did after the 1+ hour rain delay), the series win was solid.
