Quizz vs. Best make intersting matchup in Beavers game

Two of the most dynamic running backs in the nation face off Saturday when the Oregon State football team plays California in a Pacific-10 Conference game.

OSU's Jacquizz Rodgers and Cal's Jahvid Best were the top two ball carriers in the Pac-10 last season and they've kept up similar paces this season.

Quarterback Sean Canfield is still on pace to shatter the Oregon State football team record for completion percentage in a season. He has completed 68.9 percent (188-for-273). The record is held by Matt Moore in 2006 at 60.8 percent (229-for-378).

Coach Riley said that center Alex Linnenkohl wasn't practicing because he's running a temperature and is sick. DE Matt LaGrone (thigh bruise) had a more significant injury than first thought and didn't participate but should return at some point and is expected to play in Saturday's game at Cal.

Here we go again, with an unranked Oregon State team standing at the intersection of 'average' and 'outstanding' and wondering where the rest of its season might go. The Beavers (5-3 overall, 3-2 Pacific 10 Conference) meet No. 23 Cal (6-2, 3-2) Saturday at 4 p.m. in their home-away-from-home, Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.

He could spend his summer in his native Netherlands and play for the national team, or he could choose to stay in Corvallis and work out with his teammates on the Oregon State men's basketball team.

The Oregon State women's golf team is in 16th place after the first two rounds of theTurtle Bay College Invitational at the George Fazio Course at the Turtle Bay Resort. The Beavers shot a 313 team score on Tuesday and are at 627 after 36 holes. The tournament ends today, as does OSU's fall season.
