Notre Dame's pool of potential running backs took a hit earlier this week when Carlton Thomas verbally committed to Georgia. But that might prove to be just a speed bump for the Irish considering the latest from Cyrus Gray. The 6-foot, 188-pound running back from DeSoto, Texas recently spoke with Irish assistant Rob Ianello to schedule a Notre Dame official visit.

"Recruiting is going excellent," Gray said. "I set up a visit to Notre Dame yesterday. I'm going to go when they play Navy."

Gray plans to make several other trips - including one to Louisville, California and Florida - but Notre Dame is the first to make the calendar.

"I'm taking it slow," he said.
