Super Seven: Week 5
Finally! Oregon State put together a solid performance for four quarters on both sides of the ball. The result was a 44-17 beating of Colorado which moved the Beavers to 4-1 (2-0) as they look to get healthy in their BYE week.
Defensively, the Beavers took a bend but don't break mentality and forced two turnovers. Offensively OSU followed the same script; ride Sean Mannion's arm and hope for a little production out of the run game.
We'll extend the Super Six to the Super Seven this week. Here's who BeaverBlitz.com feels earns extra praise for their performance.
Sean Mannion - Easy pick here, the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week (his 2nd such honor this season) was brilliant. Mannion, on a wet and blustery day saw his completion percentage well below his average, however the elements and numerous drops played into his stat line.
Mannion went 27 of 52 and tossed a record-tying six touchdowns. He also threw his second interception of the season, but Sean put the ball on the money and had the ball go off his receiver's chest and perfectly into the hands of the Colorado defender.
He is leading the nation in passing yards (2,018), passing yards per game (403.6), total offense (390.2 ypg), and points responsible for (130). Mannion is playing at a Heisman level, and if he continues to produce and win, his name will show up on the Heisman watch list.
