JP's Weekly Walk-Off: Baton Rouge Regional
Jeff Perry
BeaverBlitz.com With an absence of regionals in the west that are not hosted by Pac-12 schools, the selection committee had no choice but to send the Beavers on a lengthy road trip, and the Baton Rouge Regional hosted by #7 seed LSU was the chosen destination. In addition to the host Tigers, Nashville's Belmont University from the Atlantic Sun Conference and the University of Louisiana at Monroe from the Sun Belt Conference with join the Beavers for the festivities at Alex Box Stadium.

How They Got Here
Louisiana State - Won the SEC Western division by three games and the SEC conference regular season title by a half game over Eastern division champion South Carolina to earn an at-large bid and the tournament's #7 seed. The Tigers lost their SEC Tournament opener to eventual champion Mississippi State, defeated Mississippi in their second game, and then were eliminated by Mississippi State in their third tournament game.
Oregon State - Going 1-5 in April series at ASU and USC went a long way toward keeping OSU out of a hosting role and out of the season's final week Pac-12 title chase, but the Beavers won all four of their conference series in May to easily secure their at-large spot in the field of 64.
